19 Christmas Kitchen Decor Ideas
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I’ve been busy decking the halls and adding a touch of Christmas to the kitchen.
Today I’m sharing my Christmas kitchen decor ideas and a few tips for adding a touch of Christmas to your kitchen.
Each year, I add a little more Christmas to the kitchen. I love the way the Christmas decor adds a pop of color and warmth to the space.
This year, I added a few new Christmas kitchen decorations and a few new kitchen Christmas decorating ideas.
1. Add some greenery.
You can never go wrong with adding some greenery to your kitchen.
Whether you add a simple wreath to a window or a few sprigs of fresh garland to your vent hood, it will instantly bring in some Christmas cheer.
You can also add some faux garland to the tops of your cabinets or a few small trees to your countertops.
2. Decorate with festive dishware.
This is one of the easiest ways to add a touch of Christmas to your kitchen.
You can go as simple as adding a Christmas themed coffee mug to your mug rack or open shelving,
or you can go all out and replace your everyday dishes with Christmas ones.
I love the idea of mixing and matching patterns for a more collected look.
If you’re going to invest in Christmas dishware, make sure to choose a set that you love and that can be used year after year.
I love the look of these Christmas plates mixed with the everyday white plates.
3. Display a holiday-themed cookie jar.
If you don’t have the time or energy to go all out with your kitchen decor,
simply placing a festive cookie jar on your countertop is an easy way to make it feel more festive.
Fill it with homemade cookies and let the scent of gingerbread or snickerdoodles fill the room.
Or, you can just use it as a decorative touch, like we did here.
4. Create a display on open shelving.
Open shelving or glass front cabinets are perfect for creating a Christmas display.
I added some faux greenery and red berries to the tops of my shelves to add a festive touch to the kitchen.
5. Add some red and white.
If you’re not a fan of the traditional red and green colors of Christmas, try using red and white instead.
I love the way the red and white plaid pops against the greenery in this kitchen!
You can also add a few red accents to your kitchen to make a big statement. I added red faux berries to my light fixture and I love the way it looks!
6. Fill a vase with ornaments.
If you have a large vase or urn on your kitchen counter, fill it with a variety of ornaments for a simple, but festive centerpiece.
You can use all one color or mix and match like we did here. You could also add in some greenery if you like!
7. Add a festive runner.
If you’re not one for a lot of holiday decor, a simple runner is a great way to add a little festivity to your kitchen.
You can use a traditional red and green plaid or go with a more neutral color scheme like I did here.
I used a black and white plaid runner and then added some flocked garland to my range hood to tie it all together.
8. Display holiday cards.
Clip holiday cards to a length of ribbon and hang them on your kitchen cabinets. This is a great way to add some festive color and pattern to your space.
You can also display holiday cards in a bowl on the countertop or in a wire basket.
I love using a wire basket because it’s a little bit unexpected and adds some great texture to the space.
If you have a lot of holiday cards, you can also use them to fill a frame or to create a garland.
9. Add some sparkle with string lights.
String lights are another simple way to add a festive glow to your kitchen.
You can use them to trim your cabinets, line your shelves, or even cascade them down the front of your window.
This kitchen from The Lily Pad Cottage has a light and airy color palette, and the string lights add an extra touch of magic to the space.
Rattan and wood accents make the kitchen feel warm and welcoming, and the lights add a subtle glow.
