Front Porch Christmas Decor Ideas
I am so excited to share my front porch with you today! It’s part of the Christmas Porches and Door Decor tour hosted by my friend Amy from Atta Girl Says.
If you’re visiting from The How to Mom, welcome! Wasn’t this outdoor Christmas decor so fun?
I love decorating my front porch for the holidays. There’s just something so inviting about a pretty front porch that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I usually don’t go too overboard with my outdoor Christmas decor, but this year I wanted to do something a little bit special.
1. Use a traditional evergreen Christmas wreath
For a classic look, you can’t go wrong with an evergreen Christmas wreath.
I love how these homeowners used a simple evergreen wreath and then added a red plaid bow to make it pop.
You can also add a pretty Christmas wreath to your front door and then hang a basket of greenery on the side of the door.
I love the look of the red berries in this one!
2. Hang a Christmas stocking on your front door
Another new trend I’m seeing this year is hanging Christmas stockings on the front door. I think it looks so cute and welcoming!
If you’re not into the traditional red and green Christmas colors,
you could always use a different color scheme for your stockings like I did with these black and white ones.
3. Use a lot of Christmas greenery
You can never have too much Christmas greenery on a front porch!
I used garland, wreaths, and Christmas trees to add a lot of greenery to my front porch. I love the look of the flocked trees and wreaths with the red bows.
The red bows add a pop of color that really stands out against all of the green.
4. Place a pair of Christmas topiaries on your front porch
You can never go wrong with a pair of potted Christmas topiaries to greet your holiday guests.
I love how these topiaries are decorated with red bows and placed inside of woven baskets.
I also love how the topiaries are placed on a pair of plant stands.
This allows you to add height to your front porch without having to hang anything.
5. Use a lot of Christmas lights
There’s no such thing as too many Christmas lights! The more, the merrier.
We used a combination of string lights, net lights, and lighted garland to create a warm and welcoming glow on our porch.
We also added two lighted Christmas trees on either side of the door.
We used a lot of lights on our front porch, but it’s not as much as you might think.
We have two 6-foot lighted trees, two 9-foot strands of garland, and two 6-foot strands of garland.
We also have two 4-foot strands of garland on the porch railings.
6. Use a Christmas color scheme
If you’re not a fan of the traditional red and green Christmas colors, you can still decorate your front porch for the holidays using a different color scheme.
I love the white, silver, and blue color scheme of this front porch.
The color scheme is carried throughout the decor, from the garland and wreath to the ornaments and presents.
The traditional red and green colors are also added, but in small doses.
You can also use non-traditional colors, like pink, purple, or teal, to create a fun and festive Christmas look.
7. Make a Christmas sign for your front porch
I love a good sign on a front porch, and Christmas is the perfect time to make one!
You can use vinyl and a Cricut to make a sign, or you can paint one like I did with this “Merry Christmas” sign.
This sign is made with a piece of 1/2″ plywood. I painted the plywood with white paint, and then I used a stencil to paint the words on the sign.
I used a red color for the word “merry” and a green color for the word “Christmas.”
I added some greenery and a bow to the sign, and then I hung it on my front door.
I used a Command hook to hang the sign, and it has stayed on my door for several weeks with no problems!
8. Use a lot of Christmas ornaments
Christmas ornaments aren’t just for the tree! You can use them in so many creative ways when decorating your home for the holidays.
I used a few different types of ornaments on my porch this year.
First, I used a few oversized ornaments as a focal point on my garland.
These ornaments are plastic and really light weight, so they’re perfect for an outdoor garland.
I also used a few ornaments as vase filler and as a filler in my lanterns.
9. Place a Christmas tree on your front porch
If you have the space, a Christmas tree on the front porch is a great way to make a statement and add an extra dose of holiday cheer to your outdoor decor.
Like with the rest of your decor, you can choose a tree that matches the style of your front porch.
A classic green tree is a great option, but you could also choose a flocked tree, a tree with colored lights, or a small potted tree depending on your style.
10. Decorate your front porch with presents
No need to go overboard with the presents, just a few will do! I used my DIY Christmas present decorations to spruce up our front porch.
I added a few presents to my front porch bench and then added a few more presents to the rest of the space.
I love the way the presents look paired with my DIY Christmas garland.
I made the garland a few years ago and it’s still one of my favorite Christmas decorations!
It’s so easy to make and you can customize it with any colors you’d like.
I love the traditional red and green, but it would be so fun to make it with non-traditional colors.
Conclusion
We hope you found our Christmas porch decor ideas inspiring and that you have a wonderful time decorating your front porch!
