16 Modern Kids Bedroom Ideas
Modern Kids Bedroom Ideas is today’s topic, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the kid’s bedroom ideas I have been looking at for inspiration.
I’m not sure about you but designing a kid’s bedroom can be quite stressful there are so many things to consider, how long will they like the design for?
How much stuff do they have? Will it be easy to keep clean? And the list goes on.
When I was a kid I always wanted a bunk bed, I thought they were the coolest thing ever! My kids, on the other hand, are not so keen on the idea.
So I have been looking for ideas that are kid friendly and fun. I’ve also been looking for ways to get the most out of the space we have.
I hope you find some of these ideas useful.
1. Create a special space for your little ones
There’s no denying that kids’ rooms are so much fun to decorate.
It’s the one area of the home where you can really let your imagination run wild,
and you can be sure that whatever you come up with will be just the right amount of whimsy.
In this room designed by 2LG Studio, a built-in daybed is the perfect spot for reading, playing, or even taking a nap.
The scalloped detail on the wall adds a playful touch to the space, and the simple color palette means the room can easily grow with the child.
2. Make it a learning environment
This is a great example of how to create a kids’ bedroom that will grow with them.
It’s a really on-trend space, with a neutral color scheme and lots of natural textures,
but there are also loads of clever features that can be adapted to suit a child’s age.
The desk area is a key part of this room – it’s a place where a toddler could sit and draw, and as they get older, it can be used as a homework station.
The shelving is also a great way to add a learning element to the room.
It’s been styled with books and games, but as your child grows, you can swap these out for more age-appropriate items.
3. Choose a theme
If you are designing a room for your kids, then you have the perfect excuse to choose a theme.
You can go as bold as you like, from a full on under the sea theme to something that’s just hinted at with the decor you choose.
We love this colorful space, and the theme here is just hinted at with the wallpaper and the accessories.
If your child is into a particular color, you could use that as a starting point for the theme.
4. Make it a space for creativity
We love the idea of creating a space in your kids’ bedroom that’s dedicated to their hobbies and passions.
It could be a desk space for arts and crafts, a book nook, a mini science lab or a dressing up area.
This lovely space has a desk area that’s been designed to be a calming space to sit and draw.
The desk has been positioned by the window so there’s plenty of natural light and it’s been decorated with beautiful woodland-themed wallpaper.
5. Choose the right furniture
The furniture you choose for your kid’s bedroom will depend on the size of the space.
For a small bedroom, a single bed is the best option. For larger rooms, you might want to consider a bunk bed or a loft bed to save on space.
If you have more than one child sharing a room, a bunk bed or a trundle bed is a great option. You can also create a cozy sleeping nook with a built-in bed.
Other furniture to consider for a kid’s bedroom includes a dresser, a nightstand, a desk, and a bookshelf.
6. Make it a space for relaxation
We all want our kids to be surrounded by things that inspire and motivate them, but their bedrooms should also be a place where they can relax and unwind.
So, keep the color palette soft and soothing, add plenty of storage to keep the room clutter-free, and opt for calming lighting,
such as a dimmable lamp or a set of string lights.
7. Choose the right colors
The color scheme you choose for the room can have a big impact on how it feels.
Bright colors can make the room feel more fun, while pastels can make the room feel peaceful.
For a modern look, consider choosing a color scheme that includes white and one or two other colors.
This will help to keep the room from feeling too busy.
8. Make it a space for sleep
This might sound obvious, but in a room that needs to work hard, it can be easy to forget that the main function of a kid’s bedroom is for sleep.
So, make sure that the room is designed to be a calm and relaxing space, perfect for a good night’s sleep.
Keep the color scheme simple, avoid any clutter, and make sure that any toys are tidied away at the end of the day.
9. Make it a space for play
Kids bedroom ideas should always be fun and playful.
This bedroom is a great example of how you can create a room that feels like it’s designed for a child but still has a stylish, modern edge.
The color scheme is simple, just blue and white, but the wallpaper and the patterned rug add interest and that playful element.
We always think a kid’s bedroom should have a little nod to what they love, so in this room, it’s the animal heads on the wall and the toy piano.
10. Make it a space for your kids
Finally, a kids bedroom should be a space that feels like it belongs to them.
And that means making sure it’s somewhere they can express their own style and tastes, too.
This bedroom is a lovely example of how you can create a stylish space that works for kids,
with the modern furniture and grown-up color scheme made more playful with the addition of patterned bedding and some fun prints.
